Agropoli

Between the old town and the sea

Overlooking the Gulf of Salerno, Agropoli is one of the most striking gateways to the Cilento. Its old town, with its grand stairways, the ancient gate and the Angevin-Aragonese Castle, offers sea views and an atmosphere steeped in history. From walks through the historic centre to Trentova Bay, from crystal-clear water to the harbour and the lively seafront, Agropoli brings together the authentic charm of the Cilento in one place: history, sea, nature and Mediterranean flavours.

Acciaroli

The spectacular sea at Acciaroli

A little beyond Castellabate, further down the coast, you reach Acciaroli: one of the best-loved places in the Cilento, with its fishing village overlooking the harbour and spectacular clear water. It's one of the three places Francesco recommends to guests staying a few days, together with the temples of Paestum and Castellabate. You can also get there by sea, on the boat trips that leave from Agropoli harbour and sail along Punta Licosa.

Francesco's tip · Flavours

Tenuta Vannulo, buffalo mozzarella

In Capaccio Paestum, close to the temples, Tenuta Vannulo makes a spectacular buffalo mozzarella: one of the great specialities of our area. It also runs guided tours for visitors, to see up close how mozzarella is made.

Francesco's tips

Where to have dinner in the Cilento

Ca' del Borgo doesn't serve dinner, but Francesco knows exactly where to send you. These are the places he recommends most to his guests.

Our guests' favourite

I Sapori del Cilento

Ostigliano, about 20 minutes by car from Ca' del Borgo · Local Cilento cooking, zero-mile ingredients

Our guests, especially those from abroad, love it: honest, zero-mile cooking. Pasta handmade by the grandmother, meat from their own farm, and their own vegetables, olive oil and tomatoes. And old-fashioned prices: a margherita pizza costs about €4, and dinner for two comes to about €37.
